UFC has a new belt to fight for, and no, it’s not a weight category. Welcome to the brand new ‘BMF’ belt, which we kid you not, stands for ‘Bad Mother F*****’.
Dana White was quick to add that this will a one-and-done sort of prize, that it won’t be treated like a standard championship nor would it be defended once won. Whoever wins, wins the belt and claims the title of the ‘BMF’.
Who will be going for the honour? Well of course, Nat Diaz. Diaz made a successful return to the Octagon by defeating Anthony Pettis, following a three year hiatus. In this victory, Diaz called out Jorge Masvidal with the now famous quote in his post-fight interview.
“That’s the guy to fight, not like these wrestlers who get you to the ground and try to win a round to win the fight. We fighting for the Baddest Mother F***** in the game belt, that’s mine. I’d like to defend it against you Jorge, you wanna be the baddest then let’s do it.”
Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal is riding a sensational two-fight winning streak. Masvidal had a KO of the Year contender finish of Darren Till at UFC London in March, then followed it with the undeniable KO of the Year against Ben Askren at UFC 239, punishing the former ONE champion with a flying knee in a record setting five seconds.
The fight has sparked interested with one of the biggest celebrities on the planet right now, with Dwayne `The Rock’ Johnson chiming in that he’s keen to catch all the action. Masvidal has already made the call that he wants the Rock to put the belt around his waist in a confident move.
Also announced on the UFC 244 card is middleweight contenders, Kelvin Gastelum and Darren Till, while Corey Anderson takes on Johnny Walker.
