Main Card showing live from 12pm VIC, NSW, ACT, TAS, QLD | 11:30am SA, NT | 10am WA (undercard will show earlier).
UFC will return to Anaheim, California, for the first time in more than two years come August with UFC 241. And with it comes a long awaited heavyweight title rematch.
Daniel ‘DC’ Cormier will put his heavyweight belt on the line as he looks to repeat his victory against Stipe Miocic that took place a year ago. At the time of this first bout, Miocic was coming off his record third consecutive defense of the heavyweight title, while Cormier had defended the light heavyweight crown that same month. Cormier won by first-round knockout, and took the belt for his own making him a dual title champion. Continuing his winning ways, Cormier is still the Heavyweight champion and the current number one UFC pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. To add to the highlight reel, Cormier received ESPY award this July as the best MMA fighter in the competition.
Miocic however, has remained quiet. Having not fought a single time since his meeting with Cormier a year ago. Some fans expect ring rust will be a factor for the long absent champion, however other’s believe he’ll benefit from it.
Having previously defended his title against Alistair Overeem, Junior Dos Santos and Francis Ngannou during his reign, Miocic has proven in the past that he’s got what it takes. Will he be able to re-write history against Cormier this time around?
Not only will this be a long-awaited main event, a stacked undercard will support it. Nate Diaz is set to return against the surging former world champion, Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis, while and explosive middleweight showdown will kick off proceedings with Olympic silver medalist Yoel Romero will come up against Brazilian powerhouse Paulo Costa.
